Admitted as European Patent Attorney in 2001 and to the bar of German Patent Attorneys in 2000
Dr. Nohlen works with the Chemistry team in the firm’s office in Hamburg. In this field, he is active in all areas of patent law, particularly polymers, fine chemicals, oil and fuel additive technology, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics. He focuses on conducting examination and opposition proceedings, including appeal proceedings, before the EPO and providing legal opinions on the validity and infringement of patents.
In 1997, after receiving a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Bonn, Dr. Nohlen joined Uexküll & Stolberg as a trainee. During his PhD project, he conducted research at the Cavendish Laboratory at Cambridge University. In the context of his employment with Uexküll & Stolberg, he gained overseas experience working at the patent department of a major oil company in Houston, TX, and a law firm in Chicago, IL.
